Wedgwood and the RHS share a fascinating history as John Wedgwood, the eldest son of Josiah Wedgwood had a great passion for horticulture and as a true visionary went on to found the RHS in 1804. Over 200 years later this unique partnership marks a landmark year for Wedgwood as the company celebrates its 260th anniversary and the entrepreneurial spirit of founder Josiah Wedgwood.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

21st – 25th May
Location: Rock Garden Bank

The Wedgwood Garden

Multi award winning British garden designer, Jo Thompson, has designed the Wedgwood Garden for the second year running. This year’s garden is designed to reflect the entrepreneurial, innovative and creative spirit of Josiah Wedgwood.

Framed with spectacular soaring pavilions, the garden design brings Wedgwood’s rich history to life by taking its landscaping inspiration from Etruria, the 18th century Staffordshire village Josiah Wedgwood created for his workers.

Inspired by the canals of Etruria, trickling streams connect elements of the garden creating a magic and nostalgia associated with an incredible past. Jo’s garden is a modern interpretation of the company’s pioneering past with contemporary planting and landscaping creating an inclusive design that looks forward to Wedgwood’s future.

Location: Next to the Piano Stage

Wedgwood Chatsworth Garden

RHS ambassador and avid plantsman Jamie Butterworth has designed the 2019 Wedgwood garden at Chatsworth. The show garden is a celebration of how horticulture and plants connect people and unite communities, inspired by John Wedgwood’s original vision to bring gardening to everyone by involving and improving people’s lives.

Students from Reaseheath College in Cheshire were involved in all aspects of the garden design, as Jamie is keen for innovation and education to be at the heart of his garden. The colour palette is inspired by Wedgwood Jasperware with a rich tapestry of lush green foliage providing a backdrop to a spectrum of deep burgundy planting, highlighted by sky blue to provide an uplifting burst of colour.
